Well-being labs are designed to bring staff together from across our organization in order to learn, practice and apply habits of resilience. These well-being labs will be conducted so that Kids Help Phone team members can participate, day or night!

Even though many of us are experts in mental health and spend our days supporting others, we’re not always the best at helping ourselves. Your well-being matters at Kids Help Phone and based on your positive feedback from the Well-Being Lab on Hope that we hosted in December 2020 more Labs are on their way!

If there’s one lesson that rings true across all of our You Matter efforts at Kids Help Phone, it’s that well-being isn’t a solo practice – it’s a team sport. This session will focus on building the kind of high quality connections that help us stay energized and close – even when we have to stay physically apart.
During this workshop you’ll:
Learn about the pathways to positive interactions, even brief ones, that make you feel seen, energized, uplifted and engaged whether you do them virtually or face-to-face.
Have lots of time to connect with peers and practice.
Create strategies to increase connection with your colleagues across Kids Help Phone.

After 50 years of research, we know that the most resilient people are optimists. Not because they wear rose-coloured glasses, but because they understand that how they think shapes how they feel and what they do. What most people don’t realize is that they can learn to be more optimistic!
During this workshop you’ll:
Learn how to make space between you and your thoughts and explore reframing for optimism.
Connect with peers from across Kids Help Phone in small breakout groups to practice resilience together.
Walk away with an action plan to build your optimistic mindset in the weeks and months ahead.
English – Monday April 12 at 2:00 PM ET
Evening – Wednesday April 14 at 8:00 PM ET
French – Friday April 16 at 2:00 PM ET
This Well-being Lab will be about using our strengths to keep engaged. We all have things we’re uniquely good at when it comes to doing or being in the world. Researchers call these character strengths, and have found 24 that represent the very best universal human qualities. When we harness our strengths during times of struggle we not only improve our well-being, we feel more productive and in control.
During this workshop you’ll:
Learn a science-based process to harness your strengths when you need them most.
Connect with peers from across Kids Help Phone in small breakout groups to explore our strengths together.
Walk away with a plan to use your strengths to keep engaged over the weeks and months ahead.

During each workshop, we will spend some time learning about the topic as a big group and most of the time exploring the topic with a small group of colleagues randomly assigned from across the organization. These break-out groups are a space where you can have rich dialogue with peers about how we can bring the habits and practices of resilience to life at work and at home.
